So the pastor of the church I wrote into a week or so ago sent me an email today. I gotta hand it to him, I thought for sure he wouldn't respond. However, I haven't decided what to write him back. It wasn't about the money, it was about the principle.
Check it out:
Dear Jessica,
Thank you so much for sending me this e-mail. May we take this opportunity to apologize for the unfortunate situation that you encountered with some of our church members. I addressed the entire church body concerning this issue on Sunday night in the service. I expressed my disappointment and disapproval of such behavior and encouraged the church to think and behave as Christ would.
In your e-mail you did not mention the name of the restaurant that you work for. I would like to stop by and eat a meal at your table and leave a tip not only for my meal but also the tip which you deserved for my member’s meals. Please let me know the name of your place of employment.
Once again, I apologize for the poor testimony of these members and appreciate your contacting me. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
God bless,
Pastor John W. “Brent” Stancil
Pastor of Community Bible Baptist Church

That's great that he wrote back! But yeah, it was obvious to me that you weren't writing it to get a few bucks. That could be weird and awkward. What might be nicer is if the jerks you served actually brought you the tip they forgot.
Wow! That's crazy.
